Developer != Editorializing

We’ve all felt the need to editorialize from time to time in our comments. It can be cathartic to be a smartass when documenting, or name variables in such a way that shows our displeasure with a task. It’s tempting, sometimes, to put something where you think the client or public will never see it. Be warned: it can rebound on you, making you look unprofessional, and, well…like something of a dork to boot.

A good example of this is what just happened in Cool Cleveland. They recently printed an a letter from one of their readers who was offering some thoughtful criticism of the site.

Web Standards meet-up…

The Cleveland area meet-up for Web Standards is happening this Tuesday. I can’t make it this month (I used to belong to it years ago before it went into hibernation) but I’m looking forward to attending one soon and seeing who’s out there.
