Developer != Editorializing

We’ve all felt the need to editorialize from time to time in our comments. It can be cathartic to be a smartass when documenting, or name variables in such a way that shows our displeasure with a task. It’s tempting, sometimes, to put something where you think the client or public will never see it. Be warned: it can rebound on you, making you look unprofessional, and, well…like something of a dork to boot.

A good example of this is what just happened in Cool Cleveland. They recently printed an a letter from one of their readers who was offering some thoughtful criticism of the site.

Note, however, the anchor on the link:

That’s enough to get you fired some circles. Learn from this mistake, and be professional.

    Thank you for the human spin on my rant. Yes, very unprofessional but I doubt that will melt the cool of cleveland to change our nasty disposition in the northcoast.
